Notes for my writing

This blog is made up of notes on the gospel as found in the only true and living church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This includes notes that are either excerpts from or ideas for books I either have in draft or may yet write.

Extreme schooling hours have become normal to the detriment of children

It is ridiculous that we have labor laws preventing kids from working until a certain age, but high school can give out a homework load that makes the schooling take 50 hours a week and nobody bats an eye. If we don't want our children required to labor for money at too tender an age, perhaps we could show dramatically more sense about what is reasonable to require when it comes to schooling. These are years that are crucial for children to have support from their families, and yet it is easy for teenagers to have to put in more time on their school that their father working a full time job. If we want our children to succeed academically bring them back home. Home is the backbone of all good things a society can ask for.
